Is it me or does Dead! by MCR sound oddly familiar to Mr. Blue Sky by Electric Light Orchestra?

I didn’t really get the answer above me… but no, you are not the only one that thinks that! I like MCR and everything, but I can’t help but notice how similar the sounds are! If you listen carefully to both songs, you’ll notice that the bass part for the two songs are practically the exact same for the part of the song. When I bought The Black Parade CD, I bought the special edition that came with a book, and Ray Toro (their lead guitarist) said that the main inspiration for that song came from ‘an ELO song,’ and I think that song gave them a little more than just inspiration… I absolutely love both songs though.

does it really matter. how about we criticize the MTV hip hop rap scene. doesn’t it all sound like a sample a sample from a sample they took from the original music. i heard the radio yesterday and everybody is singing each ones songs theres no talent anymore.
