With bands such as The Idle Race, The Move, Electric Light Orchestra, Travelling Wilburys………..What do you all think?

Absolutely definitely. My hero since a child in the 80s. I’m a professional musician who listens to pop, classical, jazz, you name it – yet every ELO song has a certain magic about it, and I can’t explain why. Lynne composed ALL of ‘Out of the Blue’, the greatest album, in only 2 weeks. It’s true they got into trouble for using a tape, but then again it was for trying to replicate all the sound effects, which is understandable. But that doesn’t take away from the genius of Jeff Lynne’s writing. Totally underrated.

I love ELO, but I vaguely recall that Jeff Lynne sort of got in trouble at a concert for performing with a taped soundtrack (like Ashley Simpson and Milli Vanilli did and were found out). ELO’s crediability as performers dropped after that. (Am I wrong about this-am I thinking of someone else? The eighties were a big blur to me….)
