Green Day 21 Guns Sounds Like….?

By admin | January 31, 2010

Does anyone think the 21 guns part in the Green Day sounds like Telephone Line by Electric Light Orchestra?? Like when ELO sings the chorus about half way through the song compared to the chorus in Green Days 21 Guns. I heard it and hummed it until I found the song… Anyone else share these thoughts?

there is a likely possibility that every song sounds like another song

Any four chord rock song will inherently sound like other ones using the same sort of musical pattern, with All The Young Dudes pretty much being the earliest famous example of that styling. If you want, all rock music is essentially a ripoff of the earliest forms of the genre.

That said, I wouldn’t put it past Green Day to plagiarize Mott The Hoople, but I’ll spot them this one and say it’s an honest coincidence.

Now check out a song by Mott the Hoople called "All the Young Dudes"…compare it to the chorus of 21 Guns…
